Introduction to the Silva Method
The Silva Method was created by Jose Silva around 1944, and was commercialised during the 1960’s.
It is a method to train the brain to relax, as well as be more intuitive, and focused.
The Silva Method Explained
Initially, Mr. Silva designed the Silva Method exercises to help his children increase their intelligence quotient, and improve the functioning of their brains. Another common description is that it represents the perfect balance between soul and mind.
As a result of the success of the exercises with his children, Mr. Silva decided to commercialise the program, and it started to be taught all around the world.
The majority of us only use around 10% of our brain power in daily life, and with the right training, can be very much more efficient, and can be more creative and able.
The concept of the Silva Method is that it is based on the states of our brain waves, typically around the alpha state.

Brain Wave State- Alpha and Syncronisation
It has been proven by science that we can increase our abilities to remember, feel calm, and at peace, as well as think more deeply, and creatively in the alpha state- the state where the speed of our brain waves is dramatically slowed, as compared to the normal daily, awake state of beta.
The fundamental idea of the Silva Method is to teach techniques that can be applied in daily life, to improve our lives.
This is brought on by the synchronisation of our two brain hemispheres.
To explain this further. The two lobes of our brains work slightly differently to each other.
One side is our logical side, and the other is our creative side.
However, with the correct training, we can better synchronise these two lobes, and this is when we are able to function at a higher level.
Benefits of the Training
We can best summarise the benefits of the training, from the perspective that a better understanding of our brains can help us manage better.
By controlling our brain wave states, we are able to better heal ourselves, and also handle stress better.
As part of our daily lives, it is normal to feel stressed from various situations, and the skill, which can be learned, is to deal with the stress so we are able to direct our bodies and minds to benefit from it, rather than feeling overwhelmed.
