Yoga, and it's Importance in Relaxation

What is Yoga?

Yoga is a spiritual practice or discipline that helps the individual unify his/her body, mind, and heart. Yoga is able to be practiced by most people, and with practice, can help to significantly relax the mind and body.

Yoga is a direct experience of the vast interrelatedness of all life and of all things.

One of the best benefits of yoga is the result of feeling at peace within yourself, as the mind is able to relax, as well as be beneficial to the body in exercise terms.

Yoga is also able to be practiced to increase your skills in meditation.

More and more, different disciplines can be applied interrelatedly to benefit the individual.

Different Yoga Types

There are different types of Yoga, and I'll briefly mention the Satyananda type.

Satyananda yoga presents different forms of yoga in one package, (including Jarma, Jnana, Bhakti and Raja).

The ideas behind Satyananda yoga is to integrate all aspects of ourselves, and if you will, act as an all enveloping yoga to complete mind, body and spirit.

Some yoga styles are more vigorous and muscular than other types, whilst other types are more flavoured towards relaxation. This is my prefered type!

Obviously, as you may choose the self practice of yoga, by following downloads of classes, I recommend you take your time, and listen to your breathing, as this will confirm your state- how you are coping and so on.

There are numerous schools of thought on this one, but listen to your body. Take your time, and enjoy...

The idea behind this is that as most of us tend to lead busy lives, we need to make the likelyhood of finding time to practice yoga as strong as possible.

An example would be to practice yoga in a quiet spot during your lunch time at work, or to perhaps have the recording available during some time off at home, and so on.

I recommend that as with any exercise, you start slowly, and work your way through the levels at a comfortable, and manageable pace. Yoga, in particular, is about synchronisation, harmony and one - ness.
